EL JOLGORIO NAVIDEÑO CELEBRATES ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY
Boston – El Jolgorio Navideño, the signature holiday event of the season returns to Mosley’s on the Charles to celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary.
When El Jolgorio began in 1989, it was a community celebration, whose primary purpose was to preserve and promote Puerto Rican culture and the Christmas traditions. Over the years the event has grown to become much more, as annually it brings together the Latino community and its friends for a night filled with culture, music and traditional food!
To commemorate the 25th anniversary, the new board of directors will honor the roots of El Jolgorio Navideño, the effort of those who made it possible, and its impact on the community.

“In honor of our 25th anniversary we are going back to Moseley’s, the venue that helped make El Jolgorio the institution it is today,” said Pamela A. Leins, Executive Board member of the Talented and Gifted (TAG) Association. “It’s where so many of us were introduced to El Jolgorio; (Moseley’s) is an intimate space that offers the opportunity to network and authentically build community,” added Ilyitch Nahiely Tábora, Director of TAG.
The significant change from previous events is that El Jolgorio 2014, will be brought to you by the TAG Association and all proceeds of this event will proudly support the TAG Latino Programs and Hispanic Writers Week of UMass Boston, two long-standing pillars of the community that have empowered Latino youth through education for three decades.
The entertainment this year will carry on the Puerto Rican musical traditions, with three distinct live acts: Zayra Pola y Su Orquesta, Fabiola Mendez y su Grupo and Jorge Arce y Raíz de Plena. The second floor at Moseley’s will feature popular and holiday music by DJ Social and DJ Maz.
Dinner, provided by Vejigantes Restaurant will be served from 8-10PM. The special program and acknowledgments will be facilitated by our beloved MC, Jose Masso, WBUR’s Con Sala, radio personality.
